Larry Peterson photoMcCOMB — Services for Larry M. Peterson, 81, of Smithdale, who died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at McComb Nursing and Rehab, following a lengthy illness, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Wallace officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Peterson was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Pike County, the son of Walter and Callie Dickerson Peterson.

He was a retired welder with International Paper Company.

Mr. Peterson was a longtime member of Siloam Baptist Church. He was very active in church activities as long as his health would allow and served in many capacities, which included deacon for a number of years. He also served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Edward, Clifton, Luther, Marvlyn and Walter Peterson Jr.; and three sisters, Anndillworth “Dill” Dillard, Martha Widman and Anna Laura Peterson.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wilkinson Peterson; three daughters, Debbie Partin and husband, Jim, of Branson, Mo., Nina Allred and husband, Stan, of Smithdale and Linda Weeks and husband, Mike, of Batesville; one sister, Betty Laird of Groves, Texas; six grandchildren, Corey Partin, Brad Partin and wife, Jennifer, Margaux Wagganer and husband, Luke, Megan Bell and husband, Patrick, Katie Knight and husband, Kenny, and Trent Weeks; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Barry Dillard, Archie Campbell, Walton Speed, Dane Hodges, Charles Freeman, Randy Dillon, Randall Hodges and Roger Dale Causey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dewitt Bilbo, Joe Neal McCallister, Clinton Carraway, Joel Petty, Allen McManus and the men of the adult Sunday school class.

The family wishes to thank the staff of McComb Nursing and Rehab for their loving care and compassion for Mr. Peterson during his time there.
