WINNSBORO — Services for Vergie Gandy, 104, of Waterproof, who died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young’s Community Funeral Home in Winnsboro with the Rev. Larry Walters and the Rev. Curtis Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Lone Cherry Cemetery in Mangham, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gandy was born Jan. 19, 1909, in Morton, the daughter of James and Theodocia Richardson. She was the owner and operator of The Mangham Cafe and a member of New Light Baptist Church in Mangham.
Mrs. Gandy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roise Gandy; four sisters; two brothers; and one grandson, Jeff Gandy.
Survivors include two sons, Clinton Gandy and wife, Dovie, of Waterproof and Robert Gandy and wife, Barbara, of Conroe, Texas; four grandchildren, Lula Huff and husband, Frank, and Mike Gandy, all of Waterproof, Joni Gandy of Conroe and Dianne Gandy of Monterey; seven great-grandchildren, Michelle Livingston, Lori Mize, Kristy Estis, Jason Gandy, Jessica Gandy, Clint Gandy and Britt Gandy; and six great-great-grandchildren, Aly Guthrie, Walker Mize, Maddox Mize, Shooter Mize, Emily Estis and Mason Gandy.
Pallbearers will be Clint Gandy, Britt Gandy, Jason Gandy, Tim Mize, Sambo Jones and Billy Sanders.
