NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Kenneth Pierce Beard, 76, of Stampley, who died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Regency Hospital in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Jerald Williams Jr. and Danny Wisner officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home today.

Mr. Beard was born April 30, 1937, in Tillman, the son of Nolan Pierce Beard and Beatrice McNease Beard.

Mr. Beard served four years as a military policeman in the U.S. Air Force. He was a deacon at Salem Primitive Baptist Church. He also was a meat department manager and maintenance supervisor for the supermarket operation The Markets for 32 years.

Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, LaVerta B. Bryant.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia M. Beard; one daughter, Jennifer B. Brumfield, and husband, Scott; one son, Kevin P. Beard, and wife, Tiana, of Clinton; five grandchildren, Derick Brumfield, Wyatt Brumfield, Brittany Beard, Hayden Beard and Jonathan Beard; one sister, Shirley B. Burns, and husband, Gerald, of Houston.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Beard, Derick Brumfield, Ronnie Bryant, Jeff Bryant, Tim Burns and Robert McClatchy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Salem Primitive Baptist Church care of Eugene Lewis at 1508 Eastwood Road, Natchez, MS, 39120.
