NATCHEZ— Funeral services for Aaron Shelby, 99, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at his residence, will be noon Friday at Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. L.J. Bell.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Baptist Cemetery in Washington under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Mr. Shelby was born May 7, 1914, in Fenwick, the son of Monroe Shelby and Katherine Campbell.

Mr. Shelby was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Grover; his parents; son, Aaron Grover; granddaughter, Erica Grover Holt; brothers, Monroe, Steve and George; sisters, Frances Shelby and Artimeese D. Singleton.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Joann Ford Grover; three granddaugthers, Jessica Jarvis, Angela Grover Bellows and husband Loney and Stephanie Grover Armstead; 12 great-grandchildren, J’Darrius, JaKala, JaLeaha, MaKayelah, Simayah, Isaiah, Clar’Neysia, A’sha, Clarence, Aaron, I’Yanna and Darri’yon; seven nephews, Gilbert, Kenneth, Darnell, Leroy, Adolph, Johnny and Samuel.
