A Franklin County woman died Saturday night, the result of a single vehicle-pedestrian collision.
The Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol reported Hope E. Turner, 39, of Meadville, died at the scene of the wreck at 10:25 p.m. Saturday.
A release stated troopers responded to the fatal collision on U.S. 84, near Bude Baptist Church in Franklin.
“A 2006 Pontiac passenger vehicle, driven by Amber Wilkinson, 22, of Meadville, was west bound on U.S. 84,” the release said, adding Turner was walking in the left traffic lane on the west-bound side when she was struck by the Pontiac.
Turner was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County coroner, authorities said.
“Wilkinson lost control of her vehicle, which rolled over after the collision with Turner, and was taken to Franklin County Hospital with minor injuries,” the release said. “Wilkinson was wearing an occupant restraint at the time of the collision. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.”
