VIDALIA— Funeral services for Martha Mae Hines Smith, 85, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Riverland Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Stephens Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leon Dixon officiating.
Burial will follow at Whitehall Plantation Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Smith was born July, 16, 1928, the daughter of Robert Hines Sr. and Mary Jones of Vidalia. She was also a member of Eastern Star OES 96 of Ferriday.
She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Rozie “Big Daddy” Turner; one son, Roosevelt C. Smith; and two brothers, Joe Mack Jr. and Robert Hines Jr. Survivors include five daughters, Marilyn Turner White, Barbara Nell Davis, Cynthia Curvin, Martha Combs and Curcethia R. Smith; three sons, Barry Joe Smith, Stefan K. Smith and Keith Smith; her special caregiver and granddaughter, Lakeitha Banks along with her daughter, Martha Combs; other caregivers, aunt Vinnie Jones and her children; cousin, Betty Gorham; special friend, Maeola Turner; ex sister-in-law, Audrey Franklin; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
