NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Charles Edward Gooden Sr., 57, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Milford Baptist Church and Cemetery in Natchez, with the Rev. Eddie Alsworth officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.
Mr. Gooden was born on April 16, 1956, the son of Elijah Gooden Sr. and Laura Gooden.
He attended Natchez Adams Schools and was employed for over 30 years at J.M. Jones Lumber Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Willie Gooden, Levester Gooden, Larry Gooden and Elijah Gooden Jr.; six aunts and three uncles.
Survivors include two children, Takeysha Clark and Charles “Bulldog” Gooden Jr., both of Natchez; seven grandchildren, Dan Terrious, Tre’Dannious, Charles, Christopher, Zachary, Zyria and Javon; four sisters, Doretha Clayton, Ruby Payne, Rosa Ikard and Dora King, all of Natchez; one brother, Terry Gooden of Natchez; one aunt, Josie Woods of Natchez; two uncles, Leporty Brady and wife, Maggie of Chicago and Sam Brady Jr. of Natchez; sister-in-law, Etta Mae Gooden of Natchez; special friend and extended family of Leola “Patty Cake” Woods Jones; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
