NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Norma Jean McQueen Haydel, 81, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will have a private service Saturday.
Haydel was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Brooklyn, Miss., the daughter of Horace and Jane McQueen.
She was retired from United Mississippi Bank. Mrs. Haydel served as an assistant vice president at First Natchez Bank and was proud to be one of only three female officers at that time.
She was an accomplished southern cook and published a cookbook “Southern Heirloom Cooking” with her late brother, Horace “Sonny” McQueen.
Her pride and joy were her three sons and their families. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her and will remain in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester McQueen and Horace “Sonny” McQueen and one sister, Geri O’Brien.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Haydel, of Natchez; three sons, Richie Haydel and wife, Susan, of Ellijay, Ga., Cliff Haydel and wife, Lisa, of Natchez and Gordon Haydel and wife, Lisa, of Smithdale; five grandchildren, Katie Sandoz, Luke Haydel, Adam Haydel, Michael Haydel and Emily Dayries; two great-grandchildren, Will Dayries and Hutch Haydel; one brother, E. J. “Buddy” McQueen, of Lorman; two sisters, Mabel Dobry, of Natchez and Virginia Hotm, of Nederland, Texas.
