Weekend Ticket: Christmas events fill weekend

NATCHEZ — Christmas events continue this weekend throughout the Miss-Lou as residents begin counting down the days until the holiday.
Possible rain and showers might dampen Friday and Saturday plans, but Sunday weather is expected to be mostly sunny and cool.
Live nativity
Jefferson Street United Methodist Church will present its annual live nativity scene from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today through Saturday.
The Nativity scene will be located on the corner of Jefferson and Union streets in Natchez. It will feature a live donkey and two sheep. Children are invited to interact with the exhibit and pet the animals.
Friday forum
This week’s topic includes representatives from Natchez-Adams County Humane Society talking about spay and neuter awareness.
The weekly forum begins at 8 a.m. at Natchez Coffee Company.
Ice skating on the bluff
Christmas in Natchez continues this weekend with ice-skating on the bluff from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and on 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at Jefferson and Canal streets.
Tickets are $20 for one hour of skating or a family rate is also available for $40.
Breakfast with Santa
The City of Vidalia will host its annual breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Comfort Suites Riverfront Hotel.
The event is for children 12 and under, and admission is $5 per child.

Ferriday Christmas parade
The annual Ferriday Christmas parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with lineup starting at Ferriday High School.
The parade, which was originally scheduled for last weekend, was delayed because of weather conditions.
There is no entrance fee to participate.
The parade will begin at FHS, go down E.E. Wallace Boulevard, take a left on Louisiana Avenue, a left on First Avenue, a left on Kentucky Avenue then a right on Third Street to wind up back at FHS.

Zion Chapel
Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church will host its annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The concert will be directed by Tony Fields.
The event is free and open to the public.
Natchez Little Theatre
The Natchez Little Theatre presents “A Natchez Christmas Carol” at 7:30 p.m. each Friday, Saturday and Tuesday through Dec. 21, with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
The production is peppered with popular Christmas tunes.
Performance tickets for non-members of NLT are $15.
The box office will open an hour prior to each performance, and reservations are recommended.

Second Saturday
Shopping, art events, music and refreshments will greet visitors and locals alike downtown Saturday.
The monthly Second Saturday event features a number of shops and galleries that will be open all day with extended hours.
ArtsNatchez auction
ArtsNatchez Gallery will host its third ArtTreasures Auction at 6 p.m. at the Second Saturday reception at 425 Main St.
Opening bid for each item is only $5.
Artwork, pottery pieces, china, rugs and a variety of other items will be available.
