ACME — Services for Huey Pecanty, 77, who died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, will be at 2 p.m. today at Acme Baptist Church in Acme with the Rev. James Gass officiating.
Burial will follow at Acme Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. today at Acme Baptist Church.
Mr. Pecanty was an avid gardener known by many as the “vegetable man.” He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also liked talking about the good old days.
Mr. Pecanty was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman and Lena Pecanty; two sons, Delwin Ray and Deon Pecanty; brother, Mitchell Pecanty, and sister, Oma Ruth Sullivan.
Survivors include his wife Willie Dea Blaney Pecanty; two daughters Ouida Kay Pecanty and Julie Perry and husband, Gerald, stepdaughter Bonnie Jo Ward and husband, Randy; stepson Ruben Rogers and wife, Renee; stepdaughter Ginger James and husband, Warren; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Ashley and husband, CJ, Shirley Cilburn and husband, Billy and Peggy Rogers; brother Alton Pecanty and wife, Betty, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brent White, Joseph Pecanty Jr., Kenneth Pecanty, Darin Pecanty, Rowdy Rogers and Jordy Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Rogers, Randy Ward, Warren James, Billy Cilburn, Gerald Perry, Ray Cooper Jr. and Charles Ray Bordelon.
