MEADVILLE — Services for Glydia Middleton “Ms. Pig” Thomas, 88, of Meadville, who died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Meadville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Fork United Methodist Church in Meadville, with the Rev. Charles “J.D.” Tillman officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday both at the church.
Mrs. Thomas was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Meadville, the daughter of Robert J. and Florence J. Fells Middleton.
She was a devoted member of New Fork United Methodist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed.
She was a retired store clerk.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie Thomas Sr.; one daughter, Dorothy M. Thomas; four sisters, Essie V. Roberts, Bessie Weathersby, Blanchie Ratcliff and Dorothy Harris.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Gladys Joyce Williams, of Indianola, and Brenda Arrington and husband, Lindsay, of Lanham, Md.; one son, Willie Thomas Jr. and wife, Gail, of Vaiden; three grandchildren, Willette Thomas, Kristy Thomas and Krystal Thomas; one great-grandson, Evan Christian Thomas, all of Vaiden; one aunt, Ruby Butler, of Colorado Springs; one god-son, the Rev. Charles “J.D.” Tillman; two special caretakers; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
