NATCHEZ — Services for Pearlie Smith Case, 99, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jody Gousset officiating.
Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Case was born July 21, 1914, near Lorman in rural Jefferson County, the daughter of Pearlie R. Smith and Carrie Humphrys Smith.
She graduated from Redlick High School and received nursing training at Natchez Sanatorium briefly before marrying.
She was a homemaker and a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Her main interest in her life was her family. She loved sewing and baking fresh bread. She was very proud of her shoe collection and, for many years, she was an avid and successful bowler.
Mrs. Case was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 74 years, Rudolph W. “Rudy” Case; and her nine siblings.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Case of West Hollywood, Calif. and Audley Case and wife, Lorna Biron Case, of Natchez; one grandson, Biron Case of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Audley Case Nugent and husband, Scott, of Natchez; one great granddaughter, Brianne Nugent of Natchez; one great grandson, Rudy Nugent of Natchez; six nieces and four nephews.
Honorary pallbearer will be Albert Metcalfe.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Natchez Cathedral School Building Fund, Natchez-Adams County Humane Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
