NATCHEZ — Firefighters could not save an abandoned house from total loss Thursday night.

Natchez Fire Department and Lake Montrose Volunteer Fire Department officials responded to a fire Thursday night of a house fully engulfed in flames on Lincoln Heights Road.

NFD Chief Oliver Stewart said two engines from each department responded to the call at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday.

The house, which was abandoned, was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived, Stewart said.

“It was a total loss fire,” he said. “Nobody was inside, and no injuries were reported.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
