VIDALIA — Funeral services for Willie Albert “Bill” Smith, 98, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Camelot Leisure Living Center, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Leon Dixon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. until time of services at St. Stephen Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Adams County, the son of Charlie and Lula Pendleton Smith. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by one son, Edwin B. Smith; three sisters, Emma Smith, Carrie Smith and Maggie Mae Smith; one brother, Percy Smith, and two nieces, Anna Laura Turner Wright and Johnnie Miller.
Survivors include a loving wife, Lillian Baker Smith; four daughters, Lenise Jones and husband, Erick, of Vidalia, Bobbie Johnson and husband, Walter, and Carrie Davis and husband Willie, all of Natchez, and Gladys Stewart of Lithonia, Ga.; four sons, Willie Smith and wife, Carolyn, and Ernest Smith, all of Natchez, Charles Smith and wife, Joane, of Ferriday and Willie Smith and wife, Ava Jean, of Atlanta; one nephew, Henry Lee Winston of Natchez; nine grandchildren he raised as his own, Daniel, Marcus, Edwin Jr., Atoya, Deenan, Michael, Daphne, LaSandra and Lawrence Jr.; and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
