FERRIDAY — Services for Louis Joseph Evans Jr., 59, of Monterey, who died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday, with the Rev. Toney Ganey officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Evans was born March 30, 1955, the son of Louis Joseph Sr. and Gloria Patricia Stuart Evans.
He was a hard worker and was always proud of what he accomplished. He worked in the oil field as a driller and drove 18 wheelers and enjoyed telling stories of all his travels through the years.
He was a member of the Grand Lodge of the State of Louisiana Lodge No. 390.
He loved his family and will surely be missed by all that knew him.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Louis Joseph Evans III; and one sister, Patricia Nan Evans.
Survivors include his daughter, April Renee Evans Sanders, of Monterey; grandchildren, Skylar Patsy Sanders, Patricia Lou Sanders and Chrissy Lee Sanders, and their father Christopher Lee Sanders; one sister Linda Lou Ingram and husband, David, of Bastrop; two aunts, Carolyn Stuart, of Fairhope, Ala., Nan Warren and husband, Alan, of Benton, La.; and the mother of his children, Kathy Jane Moreland, of New Orleans; and a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Oran Beard, Uel Beard, Mark Ingram, Trey Johnson, Daryl “Bubba” Crawford and Andy Partridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Coral Hebert, Jay Lacoste, Jimmy Don Windham, David Ingram, Thomas Warren, Russ Fairbanks, Jimmy Ellard, Tim Tisdale, Erby Seal, W. L. Adams, Glen Elliot, Uel Beard Sr., Alan Warren Sr., Alan Warren Jr. and Ronnie Tyson.
The family would like to offer a thank you to caregivers the Compassionate Care Hospice, Papa Freddie Tyson, Melissa Adams and Uel Beard for the special care and love you showed for their loved one.
