NATCHEZ — Services for Joan Coulliard Hewitt, 80, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, March 24, 2014, in Knoxville, will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Hewitt was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Natchez, the daughter of John Quegles Coulliard and Eva Sanguinetti Coulliard.

Affectionately known to many as “Nana,” she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Hewitt was preceded in death by her husband, Claude H. Hewitt Sr.; one sister, Kathleen Coulliard Helton; and one nephew, James “Jimmy” Helton Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Claude Hewitt Jr. and wife, Debbie T., of Madison, and Ben Hewitt and wife, Sylvia C., of Natchez; three daughters, Katie Cothren and husband, Jim, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Evalyn Haney and husband, Sid, of Knoxville and Neen McSwain and husband, Brandon, of Brandon; four grandsons, Jordan Haney and wife, Tiffany, Taylor Haney and wife, Megan, all of Knoxville, Collin Haney of Jackson, Tenn. and Benjamin Hewitt of Natchez; nine granddaughters, Renee Bermond, of Ridgeland, Melissa Hewitt, of Madison, Nicole Krueger and husband, Patrick, of Natchez, Emily Ingram and husband, Blayne, of Madison, Jessica Foutch and husband, Jason, of Knoxville, Laura Ann Haney and Erin Hamilton, both of Knoxville, Beth Ainsworth and husband, Hunter, of Clinton and Katie Hewitt, of Hattiesburg.

Pallbearers will be Keith Helton, Jeff Helton, Chip Helton, Jordan Haney, Benjamin Hewitt Jr. and Bailey Bermond.

Honorary pallbearers will be Skippy Fatheree, Sam D’ Antoni, Byron Carnette and Bert Smith.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Basilica.
