July 27, 1915 – March 30, 2014

JONESVILLE — Services for Johnnie Beard Jr., 98, of Jonesville, who died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. James Devine officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Beaulah Christian Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Beard was born July 27, 1915, in Wildsville, the son of Johnnie and Mattie Cooper Beard.

Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Beard; his parents; one daughter, Marion V. Guidry; four brothers; four sisters; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Clyde Beard, Fritz Beard and wife, Deadrick, and Edward Roy Beard and wife, Alfredia; two daughters, Velma Meredith and husband, Willie, and Myrtle Bossier and husband, Hilliary; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
