Ferriday — A Ferriday man law enforcement officials had been searching for since 2012 in connection to a shooting was arrested Tuesday night.
Jessie Jefferson, 27, 27667 Louisiana 15, was charged on warrants of convicted felon in possession of a firearm, attempted second-degree murder and simple battery (three counts).
Interim Ferriday Police Chief Derrick Freeman said officers responded to a disturbance call Tuesday evening at Concordia Park apartments and began checking driver’s license information on those hanging around the complex.
“They were responding to the fight, but I asked the officers to check everyone at the apartments to see if we had warrants on them,” Freeman said. “Jessie Jefferson walked up to one of the officers, gave his name and sure enough he had those warrants out for his arrest.”
Freeman said Jefferson was one of four suspects charged in a 2012 shooting.
“Jefferson was the last one of the four suspects we hadn’t caught until (Tuesday),” Freeman said. “So it was a good day for Ferriday.”
Jefferson is being held at the Concordia Parish jail without a bond.
