NATCHEZ (AP) — Great River Industries, formerly known as Enersteel, will expand in Natchez and move its corporate headquarters there from Memphis, Tenn., creating 25 jobs.
The company announced Friday that it will invest $4 million to add 12,000 square feet of space, adding to its current 150 employees.
“Great River Industries’ decision to expand operations and locate its headquarters in Mississippi demonstrates an investment in the area and its economy, and I appreciate the company for their confidence in our state and in our workforce,” said. Gov. Phil Bryant.
Great River Industries makes storage tanks and industrial pressure vessels from steel plate. It also plans to make ductwork and air quality control equipment for utilities and the energy industry.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing $500,000 for a headquarters building and $25,000 to help upgrade existing facilities. Adams County is giving the company property tax breaks estimated at $570,000 over 10 years.
“This is a huge and growing opportunity for us, and we are pleased to continue to work with the Great River Team,” said Chandler Russ, Natchez Inc. Executive Director. “The location of their headquarter operations here is big for our local area. Finally their continued growth and expansion of the manufacturing space is evidence that we can compete and win. We look forward to continuing our relationship and seeing them continue to grow and prosper as they now call Natchez home.”
Great River Industries, owned by NGS Investments, opened as Enersteel in 2010. The company, which focuses on shipping large items by barge, has expanded at least twice before since opening.
