JONESVILLE — Services for Henry James Bird, 91, of Jonesville, who died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Grace Home in St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Jonesville with the Rev. Jack Colclasure officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Bird was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Archie, La., the son of Harry G. Bird and Mary Pritchard Bird. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville.
Mr. Bird retired from Bell South after 35 years of service.
He was also a veteran of World War II, who proudly served his country in the Second Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Bird was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura Mae Clark Bird; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, James Bird and wife, Jane, of Eutaw, Ala., and Larry Bird of Jonesville; two grandsons, Tracy and Luke Bird; four granddaughters, Jennifer Ricken, Rachel Nichols, Rebecca and Sarah Bird; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Bird, Luke Bird, Drew Nichols, Tom Ricken, Kenny Davis and Dale Bird.
Memorials may be made to Grace Home of St. Francis Cabrini or the Baptist Children’s Home.
