Irene G. Chandler

NEWELLTON — Funeral services for Irene G. Chandler, who died Dec. 1, 2014, in Aurora, Colo., were Saturday in Newellton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mrs. Chandler was born Aug. 12, 1920, the daughter of Frank B. and Ida Maude Welch Grayson of Newellton.

Mrs. Chandler was a true picture of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She cared deeply for her family and friends.
She loved the Lord and taught Bible classes for many years. She also loved quilting. Her family has quite a collection of her handiwork.
She is preceded in death by her parents; George A. Chandler; four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include five children, Rita Naremore and husband, David Fenski, of Philadelphia, George Chandler and wife, Sherrye, of Carencro, La., Kathy Trahan and husband, Randy, of Aurora, Susan Price and husband, Tim, of Ferriday, and Keith Chandler and wife, Lori, of Atlanta; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a number of special nieces and nephews.
