NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Hattie Chatman Evans, 78, who died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, in Natchez, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. James Washington officiating.

Burial service will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home Chapel and noon until time of service Tuesday.

Evans was born on Feb. 12, 1936 in Adams County, the daughter of Henry and Mary Chatman.

Evans proudly served as a housewife and was a member of Providence Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School teacher and Assistant secretary.

She was proceeded in death by her son, Ron H. Williams; daughter, Sarah A. Chatman; sister, Carolyn A. Nichols; and her brothers, James, Joseph, and Herbert Chatman.

Survivors include her parents; husband, Johnnie L. Evans; two daughters, Darlene and fiance’ Jerome Williams, Marie Johnson and husband, Wilsonni, of Natchez; son, Nia J. Chatman of San Antonio; step daughters, Sherry Cade and husband, Ernest, of Natchez and Kimberly Bingham of Brookhaven; stepson, Tony Newborne Sr. and wife, Judy; grandchildren, LaDonna Chatman of Knoxville, LaRhonda Chatman, Xavier Williams, Erica W. Johnson, all of Natchez, and Cione Chatman and wife, Aisha of Hattiesburg and La’Miracle Johnson of Natchez; great-grandchildren, Paris D. Reese of Natchez, Timothy Johnson, Jr. of Oakridge, Tenn., Tyra S. Williams, Amya White, Jamira B. Bracey, Jayden C. Johnson, Danielle J. Johnson, all of Natchez, Joerdynn A. Taylor of McComb, Jailynn X. Williams of Natchez and Kynslee Franklin of Brookhaven; sisters, Sarah Isaac of Chicago, Mary Profice and husband, James, Ann Cobb, Mildred Chatman, Deloris Chatman, Yvonne Chatman, all of Natchez, Shirley Smith and husband, Kenneth, of Cleveland; brothers, Willie Chatman of Chicago and Isaac Chatman and wife, Ann, of Dalton, IL; sister-in-laws, Marvia Green and Myrtis Fleming, both of Natchez; five brother-in-laws; special cousin, Joanna Butler and husband, Walter, of Natchez; special friends, Mable Champ, Nancy Green and Lucille Mazique, all of Natchez, special sister, Jessie B. Martin of Vidalia, special daughter, Janet Jones and husband, Robert; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Adolph, Kenneth, Broderick, Marcus and Robert Green and Terry Champ.
