NATCHEZ — Services for Dorothea Anderson Mackel, 84, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Birdon Mitchell Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Mackel was born April 14, 1930, the daughter of Issac and Daisy Brady Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis T. Mackel; one son, Thomas L. Mackel; three brothers, Jimmy Anderson, Freddie Anderson and Issac Anderson; five brothers-in-law, Lavandar Kinds, Robert Harrison, Robert D. Mackel, Edward Mackel and Alexander Washington; and four sisters-in-law, Charlotte Harrison, Augustine Boyd Mackel, Francis Anderson and Selma Mackel Washington.

Survivors include one son, Michael Mackel and wife, Pam, of Natchez; one daughter, Karyn Mackel of Natchez; two sisters, Marjorie Kinds of Natchez and Daisy A. Brooks of North Chicago; one brother, Robert Anderson of Natchez; five grandchildren, Thomas Davis and wife, Evette, of Baton Rouge, Keyna Williams of Texas, Jordan G. Rachal and husband, Phillip, Jade Green and Dakota Mackel, all of Natchez; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Lucille Mackel and Georgia Mae Anderson, both of Natchez, and Yvonne Mackel of Chicago; one brother-in-law, Walter Beckett Mackel Sr.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
