Sarah Jane Smith Laramore

SHREVPORT — Funeral services for Sarah Jane Smith Laramore, 87, of Gloster and Shrevport, who died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church in Shreveport.

Rose-Neath’s Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport handled the cremation. Inurnment of the ashes will be private in the spring.

Visitation will be from at 1 p.m. at the church.

Laramore was born on April 18, 1927, in Texarkana, TX, the daughter of Joseph C. and Estalena Claughton Smith.

Sarah Jane attended Texarkana College, Hiram College and was a graduate of Sophie Newcomb College (’51) in New Orleans, LA. She was an educator, international consultant in fine arts, and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph C. and Estalena Claughton Smith; sister, JoAnn Smith Johnson and son, Alan D. Laramore.

Survivors include her loving husband, Charles Bowden Laramore, MD; and children, Carnie R. Burcham and wife, Debra, John Mark Burcham and his wife, Liz, S. Jane Burcham Laramore, Gary S. Laramore and his wife, Pam; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
