MONROE, La. — Memorial services for Claud Rodney Cruse, 71, who died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Monroe, La., with the Rev. Richard Turnley and the Rev. Ray Owens officiating.1:10 ClaudRCruse obitpic

Burial will follow at the Chickasaw Cemetery in Olla, La., under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Mr. Cruse was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Columbia, La., the son of Claud and Mildred Cruse.

He was a graduate of Ferriday High School and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La.

Mr. Cruse was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he was a Seabee and served in Vietnam. He retired from the Louisiana State Department of Corrections as supervisor of probation and parole.

After retirement, he served as the warden at Quachita Correctional Center and worked for the Quachita Parish Coroner’s Office in Monroe.

Mr. Cruse was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; two sons Spencer Cruse and wife, Christine, and their children, Carson and Marlea, all of Phoenix, Ariz., and Nathan Cruse of Monroe; one sister, Charlotte Cain and husband, Malcolm, of Vidalia; one brother, Kenneth Cruse and wife, Judy, of Natchez; two nephews, Brad Cain and his wife, Leslie, and their children of Lindale, Texas and Justin Cain and his children of Vidalia; one brother-in-law, Glendon Grigg of Baton Rouge; one aunt, Elaine Jeansonne of Monroe; and a number of cousins.

The family thanks the staff of Wing I and II at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home for their care and concern in 2014.
