NATCHEZ — A single-vehicle wreck Friday night left two Natchez residents hospitalized.

Darrius Fleming was driving with passenger Latriece Thompson at approximately 11:07 p.m. on Melrose-Montebello Parkway when he lost control of the wheel, Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford.

Ford said the car malfunctioned causing the wheel to lock up.

The vehicle eventually collided with a tree.

Fleming suffered a broken hip and fractured lungs and was airlifted to a hospital in Alexandria.

Thompson suffered from a broken femur bone and was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Ford said when officers arrived on the scene many local residents were there accommodating Fleming and Thompson.
