NATCHEZ — Services for Geraldine Shannon “Matussi” Fortune, 63, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Thomas officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home in Natchez.

Mrs. Fortune was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Natchez, the daughter of David and Lucy Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Fortune; two sisters, Caroline Reed and Rocheal Shannon; three brothers, Freddie B., Edward and David Shannon; and one grandson, Derrick Stampley.

Survivors include four children, Vince Shannon and wife, Mary, of Kaufman, Texas, Hoza Shannon of Dallas, Armond Shannon of Natchez and Lamonica Barnes of Garland, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Valencia McGee, Tanqueia Screws, Quarick Carter, JaQuontae Barnes, Hoza Shannon Jr., Harmony Shannon, DaBresha Shannon, Ha’Nikia Shannon, Kendrell Minor, Armond Shannon Jr., Quandra Washington and Sariah Carter; three sisters, Shirley Shannon and Linda Shannon, both of Natchez, and Alma Jackson of Chicago; two brothers, Robert Shannon and wife, Jeanette, of Florissant, Mo., and Cedric Shannon of New Orleans; two goddaughters, Anita Jackson and husband, Brannon, and Cassandra Washington; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
