MONTEREY — Services for Rebecca Lynn Hernandez, 61, of Martinsburg, W.Va., who died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Winchester Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Monterey with the Rev. Clyde Grammon officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Mrs. Hernandez was born Aug. 3, 1963, in Ferriday, the daughter of Lloyd Herschel Reeves Sr. and Arleigh Blount Reeves and grew up in Monterey.

She was married to Alan Chrys Hernandez for 30 years and they had one daughter, Amanda Lynn Wiley.

All who knew her will never forget her love of life and family, her passion for truth and equality, her compassion for all creatures, her genuine and childlike awe of the beauty of nature, and her infectious laugh and quick wit. She loved nothing more than passing time with her family and friends, going fishing at every opportunity, engaging in extensive genealogical research of family history and making beautiful quilts.

Becky was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Mary Ann Lowe; and one brother, John Thomas Reeves.

Survivors include he husband; one daughter; two brothers, Lloyd Herschel Reeves and wife, Jeanine, and David Brent Reeves and wife, Larly; one sister, Ruth Freeman and husband, James; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a favorite charity of choice.
