SICILY ISLAND — Funeral Services for George Larry Henslee Sr., 81, business owner of Wisner and formally of Vidalia and Sicily Island, who died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Sicily Island with the Rev. Harrell Tucker officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Henslee was born on Oct. 20, 1933 in Kelly, La., the son of Thomas and Eva Cruse Henslee.
Henslee graduated from Sicily Island High School in 1954 where he met and later married his lifelong sweetheart. He owned and operated the family business, “Larry’s TV” in Vidalia with his wife. He was a member and deacon of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Sicily Island.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah Pauline Golmon Henslee; and brother, Gorden Wallace Henslee.
Survivors include his two daughters, Diane Stroud and husband, Jimmy, of Vidalia, and Paula Graves and husband, Joe, of Wisner; two sons, George Henslee Jr. and wife, Tina, of Waynesboro, and John Henslee and wife, Jennifer, of Gilbert, La.; nine grandchildren, Heather Stroud of Vidalia, Wes Stroud and wife, Amanda, of Natchez, Amber Walsworth and husband, Hunter, of Vidalia, Stan Graves and wife, Amanda, Scott Graves and wife, Shianne, of Wisner, Kayla and Kimberly Hendren and George Larry Henslee III of Waynesboro, and Jerry Henslee of Jena; eleven great-grandchildren, Baily Kay and Warren Stroud of Natchez, Blake and Kaleb Graves, Ashlynn Dranes, of Wisner, Natalie and Edward Burford, Laken Evans, David Mc IIwain of Waynesboro, Slate Graves of Wisner and Taylor Husley of Vidalia; sister, Joyce Fairbanks of Vidalia; two brothers-in-laws, Ray Golmon Jr. and wife, Bernice, of Sicily Island and Jerry Golmon and wife, Elva, of Frierson, La.; sister-in-law, Helen Henslee of Kelly, La.; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
