NATCHEZ — Because of the current weather conditions, Miss-Lou fans will simply have to wait another day anticipating how local playoff games and Louisiana High School Athletic Association district alignments shake out.
The Cathedral, Jefferson County and Wilkinson County girls’ playoff games on Wednesday were all postponed until tonight. Cathedral will play at McAdams High School at 6 p.m., while Jefferson County will host McLaurin High School at 6 p.m. When contacted Wednesday afternoon, Wilkinson County coach Trimeka Gaines said she was unable to reach Velma Jackson coaches to schedule a time, but was sure they would make up the game tonight.
Playoff action isn’t the only thing being hampered by the weather. The second district proposal meeting for the LHSAA was supposed to take place yesterday afternoon, but will be made up at 1 p.m. today in Baton Rouge.
The second proposed district plans on Feb. 19 pitted Vidalia High School, Ferriday High School and Delta Charter School in large districts.
In Class 3A, Vidalia was placed in a district with Avoyelles, Bolton, Buckeye, Jena, Marksville, Peabody and Winnfield. In Class 2A, Ferriday was matched up with General Trass, Mangham, Ouachita Christian, Rayville and Sterlington. And in Class A, Delta Charter was placed in a nine-team district with Beekman Charter, D’Arbonne Woods, Delhi, Delhi Charter, Oak Grove, Sicily Island, St. Frederick and Tensas.
The meeting today will allow schools that have filed an appeal to speak during the classification meeting, and there will also be a debate on the second classification plan released by the LHSAA.
A third meeting on the district classifications will take place on March 18.
