NATCHEZ — Services for Gladys Chatman Conner, 50, of Natchez, who died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at her family’s residence, will be noon Friday at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Garden City with the Rev. Frank Jenkins officiating.03:19 GladysChatmanConner obitpic

Burial will follow at the Pernell Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Ms. Conner was born Oct. 13, 1964, in Natchez, the daughter of Charles Chatman Sr. and Annie M. Chatman.

She was a 1982 graduate of South Natchez High School and a 1999 graduate of Copiah Lincoln Community College nursing program. She also attended Alcorn State University School of Nursing until her health declined.

She was employed by Jefferson County Nursing Home as a nurse.

She was a Baptist and a member of the church choir.

Ms. Conner enjoyed helping others, being with family and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Bonnie M. Chatman; one brother, Charles Chatman Jr.; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include her mother; one daughter, Ebony Chatman; one son, Brandon Chatman, both of Natchez; three grandchildren, Sydney Chatman, Sanaa Chatman and Cayden Michael Chatman, all of Natchez; fiancé, Robert Jones of New Orleans; three sisters, Sandy Edney, Shonette Chatman and LeKitia Fleming and husband, Donnell, all of Natchez; two brothers, Tim Chatman and wife, Angela, and David Chatman and wife, Latrina, of Fresno, Texas; one stepbrother, Junius Reason Jr. of Twin Cities, Minn.; one godson, Roshad Fleming; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends; and two brothers-in-Christ, the Rev. Frank Jenkins and Rickey Green.

Pallbearers will be Roshad Fleming, Damien Chatman, Derrick Chatman, Steven Marsaw, Michael Coleman and Aaron Curtis.
