FERRIDAY — Services for Aaron “Thomas” Newman, 93, of Monterey, who died Monday, March 23, 2015, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Ensminger and Randy Maxwell officiating.

Burial will follow at the South Central Cemetery in Wisner, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Newman was born June 8, 1921, in Wisner, the son of Eugene Newman Sr. and Nancy Halford Newman.

He was a Shriner with El Karubah Shriners of Shreveport, La., a Mason with the Ferriday Lodge No. 390, a member of the National Law Enforcement Officers Association and honorary member of the Louisiana Sheriffs Association.

Mr. Newman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former owner of Newman Gravel Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a lifelong farmer.

Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Ensminger Newman; his parents; three brothers, Ernest Newman, Eugene Newman and Percy Newman; two sisters, Tena Bond and Versie McKnight; one son-in-law, Lloyd J. Seguin Jr.; two grandsons, Dusting Thomas Seguin and Derick Lloyd Seguin; two nephews, Eddie Max Newman and Kenneth McKnight; and one niece, Sue Newman Denny.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Newman Boykin and husband, Zane, and Tammy Newman Abernathy; four grandchildren, Audra Boykin Trimble, Jeffery Scott Boykin, Thomas Zane Boykin and Sheila Seguin Brewer and husband, Anson; nine great-grandchildren, Garrett Blane Pecanty, Caleb Jace Trimble, Sabina Aubrey Boykin, Ashley Lynn Boykin, Michael Lloyd Seguin, Trenton Thomas Seguin, Sydney Brewer Jones, William Lloyd Brewer and Zoe Grace Loomis; one brother, John Wesley Newman; three sisters, Irma Newman Tisdale, Etta Newman Hill and Bobby Newman Stephens; a number of nieces and nephews; and dedicated sitters, Annie King, Janice Gibson, Robin Mock and Rebecca Wisner.

Pallbearers will be Tim Tisdale, Aaron Tisdale, Blane Hill, Rhett Hill, Blane Pecanty and Michael Crouch.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Geoggle, Randy Maxwell, Marion Newman, Guy Hill, Ernie Newman, James Ernest Stephens, Ronnie McMillin and Donnie Newman.
