FROGMORE — Services for Willie James Watkins Sr., 87, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at noon Saturday at St. James Baptist Church in Frogmore with the Rev. Robert Cade officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be at 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Watkins was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Frogmore, the son of Howard and Alice Turner Watkins.
He was a retired from Concordia Parish School Board as custodian.
He was also a member of St. James Baptist Church and served as a deacon.
Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lavator Watkins; one son, Willie “June” Watkins Jr.; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Kendrell Watkins of Ferriday and Thaddeus Hamilton and wife, Karen, of Dumas, Ark.; four daughters, Debra Bass and husband, Donald, Frankie Powell and Henrietta Glasper, all of Ferriday, and Atican Hamilton of Monroe, La.; 26 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
