NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams School District held a special call meeting Friday to hire additional teachers.
NASD Superintendent Frederick Hill said the special call meeting was organized to lock in selected teachers for the next school year.
“We wanted to officially notify them that they have a job,” Hill said. “We felt the need to go on and have a special call board meeting so we wont have to wait another month to get them approved.”
NASD Board of Trustees President Tim Blalock said teachers have been recruited from around the state, but he knows every spot will not be filled.
“At the end of the year, naturally, we will have more people on the vacancy list,” Blalock said. “By the end of the summer that list should be smaller. (This does not mean we will fill every position) — we would love to, but history tells us there’s usually one or two positions always open.”
Hill said hired teachers will begin paper work sometime next week.
The NASD will continue to recruit more teachers to join the district.
