Mr. and Mrs. Claude Mario Marchesini of Greenville announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Marie Marchesini of Arlington, Va., to Jonathan Doyle Slack of Miami, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Doyle Slack of Chapin, S.C.

The bride-to-be is an honor graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School and the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she received a bachelor’s degree in international economics and finance with honors. She also earned her juris doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, N.C., and a professional certificate in strategic decision and risk management from Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.

A member of the junior league of Washington, she is employed as the deputy director for privacy policy for the office of the national coordinator for health information technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. Noland Edward Biglane and the late Mrs. Noland Edward Biglane of Natchez and the late Mr. and Mrs. Juan Clelio Marchesini of Greenville.

The groom-to-be is an honor graduate of Coral Reef Senior High School in Miami and the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla., where he received bachelor’s degrees in economics and liberal studies with university honors.

He recently completed 10 years with the U.S. Army, serving first as an engineer officer and as a civil affairs officer. He will be an MBA candidate at the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis this fall.

He is the grandson of Mrs. Earl Vest Slack and the late Mr. Earl Vest Slack of Aberdeen, Md., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles James Schovanec of Fox River Grove, Ill.

The couple will be married this summer at St. Mary Basilica in Natchez.
