NASD officials attacked in email

NATCHEZ — Officials with the Natchez-Adams School District are investigating what they characterized as a potential email hacking used to send disparaging messages about the NASD’s top administrator to school district employees.
The email, sent at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, apparently originated from school resource officer Ray Brown’s school district email address and issues an apparent call to action for district employees, characterizing Superintendent Frederick Hill as a “bully.”
While the email — which has erratic spelling, grammar and punctuation — apparently came from Brown’s email address, it criticizes him as Hill’s “foot soldier.”
The message, which was sent to every NASD email address, also makes accusations about Hill’s personal life and appears to threaten the release of personal information if the superintendent does not resign.
“We dont had enough of this administration’s corruption and time is up!” the email reads in part. “Expect more news next week. And yes we will be calling more names cause ain’t nobody mad but the Devils!!”
Brown said he could not comment on the email Wednesday, saying the matter was under investigation.
Hill declined to comment on the allegations in the email, but said he has no plans to resign.
NASD Spokesman Steven Richardson said district leaders think Brown’s email was hacked and are working identify where the hack could have originated.
“If there was a hack, we want to know why this person was chosen to be hacked and why the individual stated what that individual stated,” Richardson said.
Hill said the matter is being handled with an internal investigation, but he would be filing a formal report with law enforcement. Hill said he was not aware if Brown had already filed a report.
The message was sent using an email group which forwards to all district employees. Richardson said not all email addresses within the NASD have the capability to send messages through that group, however.
“Individuals have to have permission to send emails to the entire district,” he said. “Not every employee can send email to the entire district.”
