Caroline Marie Sexton and Michael James Batsche, both of Baton Rouge, were married at St. Mary Basilica in Natchez, Tuesday, April 18, 2015.

The bride is the daughter of Mila and George Sexton III of Baton Rouge and granddaughter of Iown Benoit Thornburg and the late Jacob Charles Thornburg of Natchez and George Sexton Jr. and Ethel Sexton of Baton Rouge.

The groom is the son of John and Susan Poulos of Baton Rouge and grandson of Margaret Petroski and the late Daniel Petroski of Houston and Cindy and George Hagi of Rocky Hill, Conn.

This was a third generation wedding at St. Mary Basilica by the Rev. David O’Connor.

During the ceremony, Caroline surprised Michael by presenting him with his grandfather’s wedding ring.

The bride wore a custom candlelight Martina Liana dupioni silk gown, plunging back, cathedral train with ruching throughout, complemented by a beaded pearl and crystal sash and a cathedral custom lace veil.

Alexis Edwards and Danielle Dubois were co-maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Brittany Brady, Hillary Duncan, Ashley Matherne, Lindsay Reed, Kristen Root and Abby Ward.

John Poulos was best man. Groomsmen were Nathan Basirico, Ethan Bowling, Jordan Ellis, Austin Fontenot, Joseph Poulos, Christian Sexton and Mac Thompson.

The house party included the bride’s cousins, Pamela Alker, Mary Catherine and William Butler and Patricia Parker; the groom’s cousins, Danielle, Katherine and Lauren Petroski and friends, Fallon Foret, Hagen Hamilton, Cale Howell, Emily Lowe, Schyuler Morris, Anna Price and Austin Root.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Castle. The reception was at Dunleith Plantation.

The bride is a 2008 graduate of the Louisiana State University Laboratory School, a 2012 graduate of LSU, with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology, concentration in criminology and a 2014 graduate of Southeastern with a master’s in criminal justice, honors. Caroline, a graduate assistant, is pursuing a second master’s, clinical and mental health counseling, at Southeastern.

The groom is a 2008 graduate of The Dunham School, a 2012 graduate of LSU, with a Bachelor of Science in construction management and a 2014 graduate of LSU, with a masters in construction management, college of engineering. Michael is employed with Buquet and LeBlanc Inc.

The couple will honeymoon in Antigua and reside in Baton Rouge.
