NATCHEZ — Services for James M. “Jimmy” McLeod, 93, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Promise Rehabilitation Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. McLeod was born July 27, 1921, in Gloster, the son of James C. McLeod and Edna Mae Corbin McLeod.
Mr. McLeod was a member of the Covington Road Church of Christ where he served as deacon for a number of years. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and also the owner of the Hide-A-Way Skating Rink. He also coached the YMCA boys baseball team for a number of years and played semipro baseball with the Natchez Indians. He followed the Atlanta Braves faithfully every year.
Mr. McLeod was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Addie Jane McLeod Thornton; one brother, John Angus McLeod; and one son-in-law, Jerry White.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Louise Dabbs McLeod; two daughters, Evelyn Terraine Wilson and husband, Doug, and Bettina White, all of Natchez; one son, James Rowan McLeod and wife, Cecilia, of Searcy, Ark.; three grandchildren, Tracey White Steward of Natchez, Terry Lynn McLeod Sledge and James Todd McLeod, both of Searcy; seven great- grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Pace of Delhi, La.; one brother, Wayne McLeod and wife, Billie Jean, of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandson, Todd McLeod, son-in-law, Doug Wilson, great-grandsons, Cooper McLeod, Thomas Sledge and Taylor Mitchell, and grandson-in-law, Tom Sledge.
Honorary pallbearers will be his brother, Wayne McLeod and friend, Pernell Flowers.
