NATCHEZ — A special meeting for the public will take place today at 4:30 p.m. at the Braden Administration Building to discuss the Natchez High School head football coach vacancy.
Natchez-Adams School District secretary Yvonne Singleton said she didn’t have the exact details regarding the meeting, but said the board would act upon the vacancy in the meeting. NASD Superintendent Frederick Hill was at a conference Thursday and unavailable to comment.
The only item on the meeting’s agenda is listed as “interim football coach.”
Former Natchez High School head coach Melvin Pete resigned as a teacher and coach in May as a result of his license being suspended. Pete was head coach for one season and led the Bulldogs to a 5-6 season.
As for Ferriday High School’s coaching search, Ferriday principal James Davis said the application process closed Wednesday, and he has four applicants for the job.
“I’m going to start making phone calls when I get out of this conference today and start interviewing Wednesday,” Davis said.
Former Ferriday High School coach Cleothis Cummings resigned in May after not being able to get certified to coach in Louisiana within the three-year time frame allotted to him.
