NATCHEZ — Former Cathedral teacher and assistant coach Brett Hinson was released from police custody Wednesday evening after posting $75,000 bond.
Hinson, 28, of 6 West Circle Drive, Vidalia, was arrested Tuesday morning on charges of sexual battery, the result of a complaint filed with Natchez Police by the father of a female Cathedral High School student.
Hinson resigned from his job June 1 as a coach and physical education teacher at Cathedral amid rumors of an inappropriate relationship with a female student.
The complaint filed with Natchez Police — obtained by The Democrat through a public records request — alleges Hinson and the student met at the Natchez City Cemetery, as well as other places.
The complaint states the student’s father told police his wife had shown him a photo of their daughter’s car parked at the cemetery, along with another vehicle. He then confronted his daughter, who allegedly told him she and Hinson had kissed and she alleged Hinson had touched her inappropriately, the father told police.
