NATCHEZ — Services for Donald Edward Gallagher Sr., 84, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Merit Health Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Community Chapel Church of God with the Rev. Bo Swilley officiating.

Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

Mr. Gallagher was born Nov. 12, 1930, in Bradford, Pa., the son of Charles Alson Gallagher Sr. and Violet Maude Grant Gallagher.

Mr. Gallagher served honorably in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Berlin. He was a long time member of the Community Chapel Church of God. He was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by a number of people who affectionately referred to him as “Chief.”

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles A. Gallagher Jr. and Keith E. Gallagher; and two sisters, Beverly L. Cunningham and Shirley A. Dehn.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Louise Williams Gallagher; three sons, Donald E. Gallagher Jr. and wife, Deborah, of Federal Way, Wash., Jeffrey L. Gallagher and wife, Jan, of Lakewood, Colo., and Kevin G. Gallagher and wife, Mary Anne, of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Bonnie G. Pace and husband, Mike, of Natchez; six grandchildren: Lynsey P. Parker and husband, Bradley, of Brandon, Michael E. Pace Jr. and wife, Marlana, of Natchez, Sean M. Gallagher, Kaitlin E. Gallagher of Federal Way, Brian M. Ward and Lindsay Ward, both of Denver; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Leah Kate Parker of Brandon, Michael “Trey” Pace III and Savannah Pace, both of Natchez; one brother, Lee V. Gallagher of Bradford; two sisters, Patricia J. Roff of Bradford and Naoma Hutton of Jamestown, Pa.; and one sister-in-law, Sandra Overby and husband, Bill, of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Marc Archer, Danny Watts, Jimmy Garner, Lonnie Bielefeld, Eric Smith and Shot Gwin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Overby and the men of Community Chapel Church.
