NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Morris Blanton, 75, of Seattle, formerly of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 11, 2015, in Seattle, will be 11 a.m. today at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Pickett officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Blanton was born Aug. 5, 1939, in Natchez, the son of James and Alliner Blanton.
Morris grew up and was educated in Natchez. He was a long-haul truck driver for a number of years while living in New Orleans. Later in life, he moved to Seattle and worked for the University of Washington until he retired.
He was a great cook and loved fishing. He was outgoing, had a passion for life and a loving heart. He loved people and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
Mr. Blanton was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James, Benoist, Davis Sr., and Floyd Blanton; and four sisters, Katie and Catherine Blanton, Rosa (Rosetta) White and Elouise Hassen.
Survivors include one son, Jeffery Hill of Fort Smith, Ark.; three grandchildren, Tyrenze Bates, Ikirra Martin and Jemiya Bailey, all of Natchez; one brother, Willie Blanton of Natchez; two sisters, Mary Brady and Johnette Myles, both of Natchez; one sister-in-law, Katie Taylor Blanton of New Orleans; and his beloved nieces, nephews and a number of friends.
