NATCHEZ — Services for Carol Wayne Nelson, 53, who died Monday, July 27, 2015, in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Noble officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
A Mason service will begin at 5 p.m., with visitation to follow at 5:30 p.m., and a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m., all at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Nelson was born Feb. 27, 1962, in Natchez, the son of Andrew Nelson and Leola Nelson.
He was a 1980 graduate of North Natchez High School.
Carl was employed by Blackwell Hauling Postal as a truck driver. He was a member of the Greater New Zion Baptist Church.
Carl was also a member of the 386 Transportation Trucking of the U.S. Army and he was a Mason. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes and was a true Pittsburg Steelers fan for 40 years.
Carl was preceded in death by his father; grandfather, Guy Mayfield; grandmother, Francis Mayfield; one sister, Carolyn Mayfield; and one aunt, Jessie Lee Davis.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Indiana Devine Nelson; one daughter, Tosha Bonds and husband, Colby; his loving mother; three brothers, Garry Nelson and wife, Euniece, Kenneth Nelson and Christopher Nelson; three sisters, Michelle Mayfield, Brenda Nelson and husband, Tyrone, and Delorise Johnson and companion, Ottis Vanderson; grandchildren; childhood friends, Joey Anderson, Joe “Reb” Anderson and Jamie Mitchell; a special cousin, Johnny Newman; godchildren, Janice and Willie “D” Johnson; a special family and fishing buddy, Vera Smoot; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
