Mr. Haley was born June 23, 1948, the son of Ed Haley and Hattie B. Haley.
At an early age, JC accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Greenleaf Baptist Church. He served faithfully as a choir member, a deacon and with the Hearts of Greenleaf. Those who were acquainted with him knew that he was a soldier in God’s army and on the battlefield working for the Lord.
JC possessed an unwavering faith in Christ. Through all of his obstacles, he never complained. He constantly testified of the goodness of God.
He attended Liddell Junior and Senior High School. After graduation, he attended Alcorn State University.
JC was indeed blessed when he was united in holy matrimony to Hattie Duck, July 3, 1970. To this union, one son was born, Kenya Dantel Haley. In addition to his wife and son, two of JC’s greatest joys were his precious grandchildren, Jahari Haley and Kenya Haley Jr., who he loved dearly. He always believed that his greatest roles in life were being a husband and a father.
JC was proud of his walk with God. Throughout his life, he shared with others and touched the lives of so many along his Christian journey. He was a counsel to both young and old.
Although he has served his time on earth and awaits the glorious meeting with the Lord, his memories will be forever etched in the hearts of his wife of 45 years; his son, Kenya and wife, Roshenia; his two grandsons; his mother; three sisters, Alice Shannon and husband, Larry, Sandra Coley and husband, Sanders, and Tammy Trevillion and husband, Shelby; one brother, Arthur Haley; five sisters-in-law, Luetta Duck, Vera Berry and husband, Booker T., Mary Fleming and husband, James, Louzia Harris and husband, Levi, and Cynthia Duck; two brothers-in-law, Albert Duck and wife, Lena, and James Duck; goddaughter, Dominisha Harried; three godsisters, Wanda Spencer, Belinda Bailey and Whitney Fells; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, aunts, uncles and friends.
