NATCHEZ — The Adams County Board of Supervisors met Friday to plan for the next fiscal year’s budget.
The session included meetings with other elected officials and department heads to discuss the needs of their departments.
Supervisors Vice President Mike Lazarus said Friday the budget does not appear on track to significantly increase over the current fiscal year’s budget.
“We didn’t cut anybody or decrease anybody more than a couple of thousand dollars here or there,” Lazarus said.
“For some of them, if there were no changes, no increase or place where we needed to decrease, we just hit that one and moved on.”
Lazarus said the proposed budget is on track to have more than a million dollars in cash balances at the end of the fiscal year.
The county’s bond rating has in the past been negatively affected by low cash balances.
The board typically adopts the budget in September in advance of the Oct. 1 start of the fiscal year.
