Mrs. Leake was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Wisner, La., the daughter of Lane Magruder Roy and Pearl Edna Messenger Roy.

She was a Christian and lifelong member of Parkway Baptist Church. She served in her church for a number of years as preschool director and helped with the youth ministry and bus ministry at Parkway. She loved her church very much.

Mrs. Leake owned and operated “Aunt Opal’s Daycare” in her home for about 40 years. She loved children and enjoyed her time with all of them. She loved her family and especially her two grandsons, Justin and Bryan, and her great-grandchildren.

She loved to cook and loved to share meals with her family and friends. She enjoyed her plants and flowers and working in her yard. She had many, many friends through the years and especially enjoyed her time getting together with Florence Bankston, Ardis Cobb, Betty Jo Moore and Mary Gonnillini playing cards.

Mrs. Leake also appreciated the love and care she received from her neighbors, John and Page Sauls, her special friends Byron and Gwen Carnette, Nancy and Ferdie Passbach and Mary Ruth and Fred Maier.

The family thanks the Adams County Nursing Center and all the nurses, CNAs and special friends that cared for her these last few years and to Hospice Compassus for their recent care.
