FERRIDAY — Services for Alpha Kathleen “Fay” Craft, 81, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Evangel Temple in Ferriday with Gay Bradford officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oakley Cemetery in Wisner, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Mrs. Craft was born Dec. 14, 1933, the daughter of Noah and Amanda Clark.
She was a lifelong resident of Waterproof before she moved to Ferriday. She loved her family. She was the true matriarch of her family. She was the glue that held everyone together and when she would speak everyone would stop and listen.
Fay was a mother and grandmother to a number of nieces, nephews and extended family. Her home was always open to all who wanted to come in. She will surely be missed by all that knew her.
Mrs. Craft was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luke Craft; one son, Carter Craft; one grandson, David King and three more grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Ladner; five sisters; two brothers; and Oscar Nugent, who was like a son to her.
Survivors include four daughters, Mona Lee and husband, Paul, of Crestview, La., Marcile Thornton and husband, Butch, of Newellton, La., Nina Hughes and husband, Chuck, of Virginia and Margaret Allen and husband, Barney, of Waterproof; two sons, Milford Luke Craft and wife, Glenda, of Bay St. Louis and Orlan V. Craft and wife, Joey, of Kiln; one daughter-in-law, Donna Craft of Lumberton; Pearl Nugent, who was like a daughter to her; 24 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Craft will also be missed by her companion, Hank, her lab cur who was her heart.
Pallbearers will be R.C. Temple, William Dobson, Bo Thornton, Paul Allen, William King and Penny Cobb.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Allen, Jason Campbell, Jake Scogin, Rusty Scogin and Daryl Coffman.
