WOODVILLE — Services for Naomi Ruth Flowers Carter Welsh, 95, of the Buffalo community, who died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Woodville Baptist Church with Dr. Rob Muncy and the Rev. Warren Whitaker II officiating.

Burial will follow at the Carter Cemetery in Buffalo under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Welsh was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Wilkinson County, the third daughter of Larry Clinton Flowers and Claudia Mae Trevillion Flowers.

She was a graduate of Beech Stand High School. She married Dudley Sessions Carter.

Her first job was in 1939 with attorney Carter Leak in Woodville that led to 40 years of working as a secretary and retiring from Wilkerson and Crawford Law Firm.

Ruth was an active member of Pioneer Baptist Church as well as Woodville Baptist Church until recent years. In 1983, she married William Curtis Welsh.

Mrs. Welsh was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dudley Sessions Carter and second husband, William Curtis Welsh; one sister, Adris Flowers Morris D’Aquila; two brothers, Larry Clinton Flowers Jr. and Ernest E. “Pete” Flowers; and two nephews, Larry Clinton Flowers III and Ernest E. “Sonny” Flowers Jr.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary F. Carter of Woodville and Vivian Mae Brinson and husband, Ed, of Kissimmee, Fla.; three nephews, Willie Morris, Ronnie Matthews and Haynes Brinson; three nieces, Claudia Carter Reed, Connie Carter Waters and Kay D’Aquila Smith; and a number of other nephews and nieces by marriage.

Pallbearers will be Willie Morris, Clint Flowers, Colby Reed, Ralph Carter Shep Crawford and Haynes Brinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Brinson, Ronnie Matthews, David Wilkerson, W.C. Reed, J.D. Lyons, Charles Hudson and Josh Leger.

Special love and thanks to Aunt Ruth’s caregivers, Jamie Pennington and Jennifer Burrough who gave such loving care.
