NATCHEZ — Graveside services for C.V. “Butch” Nichols Jr., 60, who died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis, will be noon Monday at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Xavier officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Nichols was born Nov. 23, 1954, the son of Charles V. “Teddy” Nichols and Corinne Murray Nichols.

He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia. He was a 1972 graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, La., where he received his bachelor of arts degree in political science in December 1975. After graduation, he returned to his hometown of Vidalia and opened a real estate business, C.V. “Butch” Nichols Real Estate, which he operated until his death.

Butch enjoyed visiting with his Vidalia friends at his office on Texas Street. After his illness limited his ability to drive, he enjoyed phoning his family and friends to discuss his favorite subjects, politics, the stock market and his latest real estate venture.

Survivors include one brother, Mark Nichols and wife, Debbie, of Houston; two nephews, Trevor Nichols and wife, Becky, of Corpus Christi, Texas and Taylor Nichols of Houston; a godson, Sidney A. “Boo” Murray IV of Vidalia; he will be missed by cousins, Sidney A. “Scoop” Murray III, Bill Murray, Patricia Murray Lane, Steve Murray, Jill Nichols and Brooks Nichols.

Special thanks to those who assisted Butch in the last years of his illness, including Sue Grayson and the staff at Concordia Bank & Trust Company, his best phone buddy, Mrs. Virgie Jackson and most particularly his loyal friend, Ralph B. Shields III.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to a charity of choice.
