NATCHEZ — Services for Rosa Lee Harris Sims, 90, of Natchez, who died Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilsonni Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Sims was born May 8, 1925, in Bolivar County, the daughter of Willie Harris Sr. and Mary Earls Harris.
Rosa Lee graduated from Alcorn State University with a bachelor of science degree. She was an educator in the Jefferson County public schools before her retirement.
She was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Lily of the Valley Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. Her hobbies included traveling and playing cards.
Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Willard Sims Sr.; three sisters, Lillie Toney, Bertha Brown and Annette Harris; and nine brothers, Curtis Harris, David Harris, Earl Harris, Eddie Harris, Henry Harris, Joe Lewis, L.C. Lewis, Patrick Harris and Richard Harris Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Sims Jr. and wife, Aradia, and R.T. Sims and wife, Annie; two daughters, Bernadine Johnson and Delores Sims and husband, Ivan; five brothers, Willie Harris Jr., Johnny Harris and wife, Bettie, Freddie Harris and wife, Rebecca, James Harris and wife, Olivia, and Ricky Harris; three sisters, Phyllis Felder and husband, Huett, Earline Fowler and husband, William, and Magnolia Lewis; one brother-in-law, Eddie McCoy; special friend, Camille Carter Green; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
